MICROSPHERE SUMMER WAIVER SYSTEM

• By Monday evening of the annual MLB all-star break, each owner distributes a list of their waived player(s) with designated draft round tenders they would accept in exchange for the player (i.e. If an owner designates a player with a 9th round tender, he must accept a claim that provides him a 9th round pick in the upcoming draft while sending the player to the claiming owner).  

  • If an owner wishes to include a back end pick in the upcoming draft with a waived player, they can also designate that with their waiver announcements.

  • If an owner wishes to specify that a claim not take effect until after the upcoming Sphere postseason, they can also designate that with their wavier announcements.

• Between Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, owners submit any desired claim(s) directly to the waiving owner. 

  •  

• On Thursday evening of the annual MLB all-star break, each owner will disclose the claims made for their players and resulting transactions.  If multiple claims are made for the same player, the waiving owner has the option to choose which claim to accept.

Additional Rules:

• If an owner does not have the draft pick in the upcoming draft for a claim they wish to make, they can still make a claim by sending their next higher available draft pick to the waiving owner.

• Unclaimed players remain with their current team.

• Monday waiver announcements require the following four components: Name of player waived, draft round tender, immediate or deferred acquisition, back-ender to claiming owner included or excluded.

Every third year when owners announce 3-year ballpark commitments, park selections will be released when protection lists are published 3 days prior to the regular draft. Ballpark commitment schedule: 2024, 2027, 2030 ...
